A Terrain Park at Snowbowl?posted on Thursday, November 12 2009 at 11:17:40
"Edge of the World and KBGA College Radio, 89.9 FM are proud to present
a night of snowboard film premiers and fundraising, featuring the new
Absinthe film, Neverland and Burton’s The B Movie. Music provided by
KBGA DJ Fleege before the show and at intermission. This will also act
as a fundraiser for Missoula’s own Backwoods Project. The event takes
place at the Wilma Theater on Thursday, November 12th, and is only $6
for Missoulians of all ages.
Edge of the World and KBGA are teaming up to help raise awareness for The Backwoods Project. The Backwoods Project is an answer to the lack of public freestyle ski and snowboard terrain in the Missoula area. It is an organization created to support Missoula's Freestyle community, and improve lives through the healthy activities of snowboarding and freestyle skiing. The initial goal of the project is to institute a safe, professional quality terrain park in Missoula that is in line with Missoula's unique culture, supports the local riding community, and most importantly, is open to anyone with a lift ticket. A proposal for the park to be located at Montana Snowbowl was accepted by the owner of the resort this spring. Under the conditions of the proposal for Year One, the terrain park will not be a season long fixture. Rather there will be a series of parks built for weekend long events throughout the year. These events are designed to show the resort and the community the value of a terrain park, as well as to demonstrate that a safe and professional quality park can exist in Missoula.
