LOCATION (-K- on our map)
Big Sky is located in southwest Montana, in between Bozeman and West Yellowstone. It is a short drive on Highway 191 from Bozeman. It is a pretty drive and the roads are well maintained. You can find yourself stuck behind slow moving vehicles in certain stretches though.
LIFTS
Are you ready for this? 15 passenger tram, four high speed quads, a four passenger gondola, a quad, three triples, and six doubles. Damn.
SLOPES
There are two bases at Big Sky, the elevation at Lone Moose is 6,800 ft, and the elevation Mountain Village is 7,500 ft. The elevation at the summit (Lone Peak) is 11,166 ft. They have a vertical drop of 4,350 ft!! Screw Texas, everything is bigger at Big Sky Resort.

There are three parks at Big Sky, Explorer, Swifty and Ambush. Explorer is my style, for the newbies just getting used to parks. Swifty has nine jumps and eight jibs. Ambush is the park of all parks. It is a black diamond parks. It has two 30 foot jumps and a barrel bonk. There is a triple rail line a pipe and a double jump line. SICK!!!

"This would be the most ideal place to learn how to snowboard. The instructors are fabulous. They are very knowledgeable, fun and patient. We had the chance to go out with Chad Jones one day. He was very knowledgeable and his technique was impeccable. I would love to go back someday and take a lesson from him. They had a whole area on the mountain for beginners with long, open runs and easy to get on lifts. Big Sky is a perfect resort for your first time, especially if you are going to be there for a few days. It has the right atmosphere to spur the snowboarder in anyone. "

"I canīt tell you how much I loved this resort! It was really world class. Unfortunately, there wasnīt any fresh snow the days we were there, just missing the huge storm, but there was still some powder to be found in the trees. And, in any case, with such an amazing resort, the snowboarding is super in almost any condition. The first day we were there Shane Stalling was our guide, yes THE Shane Stalling from Transworld and from Recordings (link to film info/review), my secret crush, donīt tell Kevin. Unfortunately I was a little on the hungover side after a night out in Bozeman, but I was still able to survive the trees and cliff he navigated us through. With everything from the beginnersī area to the black diamonds, this resort has everything to offer. I would love to stay there for a week and get to know the place better, itīs huge!"

"Sorry for the hard-core Bozemanites that love Bridger, but Lone Peak is something else entirely! Any direction you go you know you will be challenged no matter how advanced your skill level is. Steep is the word, and you could add narrow to that if you decided to hit one of the chutes (shovel/probe/transceiver required, that goes without saying). I think I could hit this peak every day of my life and not get tired of it!"
