Moonlight Basin
Moonlight Basin is an absolutely spectacular mountain. It has what many consider to be the most extreme terrain (the headwaters). There really is something for all levels. They have nice long groomers, a super beginner area, super parks and bloodcurdling chutes all in a fun and friendly environment. It is a big resort with a real local, friendly feel.
LOCATION (-K/L- on our map)
They are also putting Montana on the map with their events and competitions. In the 07/08 season they held a Volcom Rail Jam where the winners went on to compete nationally. There is talk of continuing the competition in future years as well.

NOPE RESTAURANT/BAR In the restaurant the Headwaters Grille, they have probably the best portabella sandwich I have ever eaten in my entire life. I am salivating just thinking about it now. Everyone seemed pleased with their meals and the prices were quite reasonable. Although it is crowded, we were able to find a place to sit. There are also the Timberīs Restaurant, Timberīs Bar, and Timberīs Deli located in the Moonlight Lodge and Borderīs Café located in the Pony Express Lodge, which we did not have the opportunity to visit. Better yet, make it to Moonlight Basin for Volcomīs Peanut Butter and Rail Jam and eat some the PB&Jīs they have out for you to make! REVIEWS

"The mountain has a nice beginner area with a conveyor lift to easy the difficulties. It is a nice green area with a lot of space. There is really no need to stay there long, because there are many spots on the mountain that are beginner friendly. The lifts are easy to get on and off, so there are no worries there. It makes learning so much easier when you can just pick yourself up and keep going down the mountain instead of staying on the bunny hill and attempting to master the rope tow. "

"I really like Moonlight Basin, but it is not just the runs I like it is the resort as a whole. The atmosphere there reminds me of a small, modest resort but the mountain is world class. The views are amazing, the lifts are fast, and the runs are long and fun. They have nice seemingly never-ending runs where you can really cruise. The lifts are comfortable and fast, so you can spend more time on the hill. I would love to live closer to this resort to really take advantage of all it had to offer. I donīt think I would ever be bored. I watched Kevin go to the headwaters and almost had a heart attack, maybe someday I will up for a run like that!"

"Together with Big Sky, Moonlight offers some of the most extreme in-bounds terrain anywhere in the States. The headwaters are a series of steep chutes, served by a lift and a very short hike... although that hike gets pretty scary when the wind is blowing hard! At the time of our review there was a big wind storm and I had to duck and put my board flat on the snow a few times as I was hiking toward the 3rd or 4th chute down. The ride down makes everything worth it though! Even better is riding the Lone Peak tram up from Big Sky and riding down the North Summit powder field. Any of these double black diamonds provide an absolutely bone-chilling thrilling back-country experience without the hassle of hiking up!"
Parks Angela-
"There are two parks at Moonlight, the Zero Gravity Terrain Park and Zero Gravity Pony Park are considered freestyle terrain. According to Moonlight Basin, freestyle terrain is areas dedicated to terrain parks or terrain features such as jumps, hits, ramps, fun boxes, jibs and rails. As the names imply, the Zero Gravity Terrain Park offers medium and large features for the more advanced riders and the Zero Gravity Pony Park offers small and medium features for riders like me. "
